Hafenfest Lemsteraken Regatta Emden

A very special program on the way to the Hafenfest in Emden

Around the Hafenfest in Emden, Sailing Dutchman has put together a unique program in collaboration with Workumer Jachtservice.

Thursday 16th of July

Around 19.00 we will gather in the old fortified town Esonstad at the nature reserve Lauwersmeer in Friesland. The ships will be moored at the quay in the town centre next to the central square and the Waegh. After a welcome word and drinks it is time for the informal dinner and getting to know each other and the crew of the ships.

Friday 17th July

After breakfast on board, we sail up the Lauwersmeer towards the locks of Lauwersoog. After the lock, the sails are set and we sail with the entire fleet over one of the most beautiful parts of the Wadden Sea, under Schiermonnikoog, towards the Eems. On the causeway we tie up the boat and let them fall dry. When all ships are dry we light up the BBQ under the guidance of the skippers. We provide a variety of meat and local fish, this is a truly unique experience on the seabed. When the water rises again we sail further up the Eems. When it gets dark the whole fleet anchors against the setting sun.

Saturday 18th of July

Because we are tied to the tide, breakfast is early in the morning. With the last tide in our backs we have a sailing race to Emshafen.
As soon as we have Emshafen in sight we see all the spectators on the shore welcoming the fleet. The winner sails across the finish line and is welcomed by a cannon shot. When the whole fleet is in the harbour the cosiness on deck and on the quay can start.
